![]() Eventually the Pacifics came along and started adopting many of the features that made the Workshop series what it was, until there was no discernable difference between the two lines (apart from the absence of 13' 15' and 18' toms in the Pacific lines something DW has never got right with their lower-priced lines since the disappearance of the original Workshops).Het volgende artikel heb ik een keer geschreven over de DW Workshop Series. They were nice enough drums, but nowhere near as custom as a proper DW kit. You were limited to a set number of depth x diameter configs, very few colors, no reinforcing hoops and the lugs were the oval turrets that would later become known on Pacific drums. ![]() The Workshop Series (as far as I thought I knew), was originally conceived as a lower-cost, 'run of the mill' DW kit. I have a review of the kit in a copy of rhythm magazine (Stuart Cable on the front cover) but have not been able to lay my hands on it. They were originally only made in 3 oiled finishes, two of which were red and green (think the third was blue). ![]() They're really thin maple with reinforcment rings, and at the moment, I assume they're a non-custom equivalent of Collector's Series drums (or made before DW had special Collector's Series badges made), since those are the only DWs with the same shell and hardware specs. They're definitely not Eco-X drums (I don't see why anyone would take the badge off anyway), since they're blue and not X-shells. Well, I know DW used to make a lot of drums with these badges: I bought them used, and they were made in 2002, as it says on the inside of each shell. Of course if you bought them new then I'm clueless. My guess, if you bought them used, is that whoever you bought them from took off the Eco-X badges because they didn't want to take any crap about 'oh thats not a REAL DW kit' since it's not one of the main 3 lines. ![]() Did you buy the drums new or used? The only series I can find with the black DW badge is the Eco-X series, but there is an additional badge on that series that identifies them as Eco-X. ![]()
